JEWEL

is a well-known Bangladeshi Producer, Director, Event manager and Anchor by profession, but a singer by passion. Specialized in Romantic and melodious songs that have captivated thousands of listeners of all ages. While rooted in traditional Bangla music, Jewel has a wide variety of influences and an extremely versatile career.

Jewel was born in Muladi, a riverine part of Barisal district, on the northern shore of the Bay of Bengal in southern Bangladesh.

Jewel was introduced to music and its intricacies at a very early age. Started singing during childhood as a student of Grade II. His influences came from his music loving father Rezaul Karim and mother Kohinoor Karim.

He was also inspired by his father’s first cousin Altaf Mahmud (December 23,1933 – September 1971), who was a musician, cultural activist,

and martyred freedom fighter of the Bangladesh Liberation War. He was also a language activist of the Language Movement and composer of ‘’Amar Bhaier Rokte Rangano’’ – the famous song written to commemorate of the event.

His initial trainers are Monir Hosain Mintu from Jhalokathi, Ostad Nurul Amin Chowdhury from Barisal. Both are very active and respected in south Bengal for their contribution in local music scenario.

First solo album was released in 1993. Subsequently, ten more solo and more than 70 mixed audio albums (with other popular artists in same album) were released. Among these solo albums, noted singer, Bangla rock legend Ayub Bachchu composed the music for seven, Bappa Mazumdar composed two and late Pranab Ghosh did the compositions for one.

Performed numerous concerts in and around Bangladesh and also in India, Japan, Nepal, Kuwait, USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Thailand, Oman, Bahrain, Italy, Austria, Singapore, Qatar, France and UAE.

Hassan Abidur Reja Jewel is married to Sangita Ahmed who is a well-known entrepreneur, women business development activist and Newscaster.
